Let Disney Baby Strollers Bring the Magic to Your Little One

By Maria Cummings

The magical that can only come from Disney has made its way into almost every industry in today’s retail market, especially when it comes to Disney baby products. No matter what Disney character you like, you can find a product with your beloved character–clothing, shoes, toys, games, hair accessories, videos, and other products. Disney has definitely earned its place in everyone’s hearts.

But in the case of baby products, Disney has quickly become an industry leader. Disney baby products have made sure all popular Disney characters are displayed on most items and gear. You can get a Buzz Lightyear themed bottle or Belle plastered on a cute set of toddler cutlery and dishes. A Mickey Mouse pacifier can also be yours is you prefer. The possibilities are endless; you can be certain each latest Disney character will be available in retail discount outlets and department stores as well as toy stores and supermarkets. There is simply no end to the places Disney will go; it is highly likely they are planning further expansions at this very moment.

There are other items offered by Disney baby products and manufactured by Safety 1st, such as high-end strollers, swings, high chairs, play yards, car seats, and travel systems. Safety 1st is a well-known, highly trusted baby product manufacturer. Because Safety 1st teamed up with Disney, rest assured the products they create together meet the highest quality and safety standards that provide complete satisfaction to all parents.

Out of all the baby items you purchase, your stroller will be the one that receives the longest period of use. Because of this fact, you need to do the research in order to find a model that offers great features and equally great prices. And before you buy the stroller of your choice, try it out in the store. Some stores allow you to push and load the display strollers so you can test their sturdiness. When you do try one out, ask yourself the following questions. Was it difficult to open and fold? Can you easily turn it one-handed? Allow dad the opportunity to do the same if he comes along, especially if he plans on operating it in the future. And if he will be, look for a stroller with handle bars that adjust and can change height.

The Disney stroller made by Disney baby products is among the best strollers available in today’s market because it is reasonably priced and superbly made. For instance, the Disney stroller by Disney baby products is a wonderful baby item that comes in a two-piece package named the Propack LX Travel System by Disney Baby. This Disney stroller includes many features that any mother will appreciate. And this travel system comes equipped with a car seat capable of locking into its matching Disney stroller; this will come in handy for not waking your sleeping baby to go inside the store. You can use the stroller for optimum comfort when your baby becomes bigger. And comfortable it is. This Disney Stroller by Disney Baby Products comes with plush cushioning, an adjustable canopy, and double seat belts.

			QUESTION:
A Friend’s Day…?
This is my friend’s typical afternoon.
1:00 Nap time
5:30 Dinner on her mickey mouse high chair. Pre chewed peas
6:00 Depends Changed
6:30 Her mom puts her in her crib. Until 7:00Am ..Her mom stays up watching her daughter. Age 12.. Her mom writes in her journal while watching so she doesnt escape from the house.. Her mom made a Baby book that goes up to age 18 and starts at Five years old. thats when the old one ended.

So is this mom over protective?
I personally think that pre chewed dinner is gross and that she has a huge high chair……and nap time is a little weird for 12 year old girl

				ANSWER:
Not over protected, Genius. A carefully planed out plot to make her daughter more of a home body. She probably doesn’t want her to leave/ move out or she might commit suicide. Shes raising her daughter to take care of her when she is older. And if the daughter does try and “escape” to a normal life, the mother will show her those journals and guilt trip her not to leave.

			QUESTION:
Is this a bad thing, or am I just excited?
Okay well me and my husband are trying for baby number one and we’ve tried really hard not to buy any baby stuff so early but we’ve ended up with a few things and I have a huuuuge wish list. My best friend is having her second baby next month, she has an 11 month old, and heres what her and her husband have- a crib, a car seat, few outfits, diapering tools, manicure set and umbrella stroller, and for their oldest a box of toys, and they are content, and the little girl is happy and healthy. But it makes me feel weird because I want so much more than the bare minimum. My wish list (of necessities) includes a breast pump, bassinet, stroller/car seat combo, carrier sling, swing, bath tub, diaper table, high chair, rocking chair, bottle warmer, more than one diaper bag, specific bottles, you get the picture, I don’t go as far as a diaper genie, wipe warmer, bottle sterilizer etc. but I do want these things because I think they will make life easier once we have a child. Am I going to seem weird? She thinks those things are odd to get yet all of them seem very useful to me. In the last week I hit some killer sales and ended up with a mickey mouse diaper bag, an infantino sling, and an evenflo snugl carrier, and I’m just wondering if my wish list is realistic.
Ps: I know its odd to buy baby stuff before we’re pregnant but for the bag and both slings, in box, I paid , talk about savings, like !

				ANSWER:
Everyone is different. Do you NEED all of those things? Probably not. But they make life easier, and if you’re buying things in advance I don’t think it’ll be a huge deal financially by the time the baby is born.
My grandma said all she had was a crib, changing table and a playpen for her babies LOL
Times have changed. There are lots of modern conveniences out there, so why not take advantage of them?

			QUESTION:
HOW DOES MY NOVEL SOUND!? 10 POINTS?
Was I ever really crazy?
Apparently I was. Considering that I was in a room with a man I had never met before, he told me his name was David, my therapist, and he wanted to help me with whatever problems in my life. Though, what was I to tell him if I hadn’t even known the true reason I was here. The small clock on the wall ticked loudly and it was beginning to irritate me beyond belief. And since when did he put a clock in here? The walls were riddled with pictures of teenagers with the most depressed faces I had ever seen and right beside it was a happy girl with a teddy bear. The room was a bland beige color.
“Alright, let’s try an exercise where you only focus on my voice. Let all the unnecessary sounds out, breathe in deeply and try to relax.” David said while leaning back in his chair; folding his hands and placing them on his stomach. He was a very large man both in size and stature, a thick beard covered his top lip and his wired rimmed glasses were perched on his nose.
I sighed and closed my eyes. “Just let everything fade except for my voice. . .”
“You can start by turning off that clock it’s irritating the crap out of me.” I said while opening my eyes. He sighed and I could hear the chair squeak as he got up. His soft footsteps sounded on the carpet and could make out the sound of the clock being switched off and a soft tap as he placed it on the table beside a picture of his wife and children. I closed my eyes again.
“Okay, it’s off.” he said calmly and he returned to his chair making it screech again. “Now I’m going to ask you some questions about your personal life and what you wouldn’t necessarily feel comfortable with telling your parents. Remember that I am only here for your well-being.”
I groaned. Couldn’t he just diagnose me as the morbidly insane? After all that is what I was here for, right? He cleared throat.
“How was your childhood?” he asked.
“Well, when I was four I almost suffered from a heart attack at the site of Mickey Mouse when my family took a trip to Disney Land that was fun. A year later at my fifth birthday party my kindergarten crush kissed me on the cheek then I pushed him because all the girls said he had cooties. Nothing spectacular happened to me when I was six so, I’ll just skip that year, come to think of it turning seven wasn’t such a big thing either. . . But when I turned eight everything seemed to change I began to act differently and well. . . now I’m this seventeen year old girl who has been depressed over something I just can’t seem to put my finger on. . .”
“Does it have to deal with your parents’ divorce?” his voice flowed into the silence.
“No, not at all. When I was young I knew from the start that not everyone can stay together you know, this love thing is just so overrated and they always seemed to fight over the most stupid things. My parents didn’t love each other so why would I be hurt by the divorce?” I asked him but also asked myself.
I could hear him shift in his chair; he was silent for a while probably looking through his flash cards to see what question to ask next. “Have you ever had any conflicts at school?”
I laughed to myself. “Where do I begin?”
“Let’s start off in high school; you are still in high school correct?”
“Yeah, I am.”
He cleared his throat. “Please begin.”
“When I first became a freshman my older brother had tried to explain the ropes to me, you know. He told me to avoid sitting with anyone that looked like they were labeled as a social leper. He wanted me to establish myself as Julie Cox and not just the little sister of the infamous Aaron Cox, all the teachers hated him.” I laughed, “But all the girls loved him; he always went out with a new girl every time I saw him. Guys wanted to be him at least that’s what he told me. . . He said that first impressions were everything and if I ruined it then that was it. Done deal. There was no rewind button I was stuck in whatever social group people placed me in. Unfortunately, I made the wrong choice and I was put at the bottom of the food chain. Everything you could ever imagine happened to me within the first two months of being in high school. I had people trip me, food was thrown at me, and all the popular girls gave me hell me in gym, they even went as far to taking all of my clothes and throwing them in the mud. That was the worst day in my entire life. I had to walk around school in some makeshift clothes I had rummaged through in the lost and found. They were so itchy and they reeked of sweat.”

Tell me what you think. Constructive critcism welcome. 10 Points Awarded to the Best Answer!

The first rule of buying a baby gift is to choose a present with substance and style. Essentially, this means you need to find a gift useful to the new parents but one that is attractive and bright. If you are not a parent yourself, you may be asking yourself, “What do new parents need for a baby?” The truth is, they need many things before their new child arrives. To come up with a gift, think about the basics that new parents will need.

Usually, this is clothing, blankets, age-appropriate toys, and diapers. Parents may already have larger items like a stroller or highchair, but contacting them before the shower to ask what they have and what they expect to need is helpful.

For clothing and toys, the age of the child does matter, and particularly for clothing, parents will need many of the basics: onesies, t-shirts, and socks. Clothing and toys are sold by age, and parents may need items past the newborn period.

No matter the age of the child, however, parents will need diapers for at least the next two years. But, aren’t diapers an anticlimactic gift? Not really, as long as you take presentation into account. Diaper cakes, in this respect, are the perfect baby shower gift. They provide parents with a large supply of diapers and come in a fun and attractive package.

A typical diaper cake consists of 80 to 150 diapers attached together and formed into tiers and mirrors the appearance of a wedding cake. But do you want a plain vanilla cake at a wedding? Diaper cakes need color too, and designers of these baby shower gifts decorate the outside with ribbons, flowers, and other baby products. The outside of a cake may have blankets, toys, clothing, or other small baby products.

Diaper cakes are also helpful for planning a baby shower. If you have been asked to plan one for a coworker, friend, family member, or acquaintance, you are expected to both help and provide a gift. Diaper cakes meet both of these requirements. The festive and bright look of a diaper cake is perfect as a centerpiece for the shower; with so many style options available, a diaper cake is sure to fit your theme. Once the shower is over, the diaper cake can be given to the expecting parent as a gift.

One name that has and continues to deliver quality when it comes to baby pacifiers is nuk. A Nuk pacifier is slowly becoming the most preferred choice among parents especially new moms because it has every feature that a good pacifier is supposed to have. As there is so much choice in the market parents often tend to get confused and lose track of what is good for their baby. This happens in most cases and sometimes lack of direction can also lead to serious problems concerning baby’s health. So to avoid any sort of confusion and to be 100% confident about the choice you make opt for a baby nuk pacifier.

Nuk has been a part of the baby products industry for a very long time and this only says that the commitment and the dedication they render in designing baby products is top notch. A nuk pacifier gives you a lot in terms of convenience, safety, purpose and affordability. Pacifiers are used for a lot of reasons. They are basically used to mimic the nipple sucking action. They are used for other purposes as well. For instance a baby nuk pacifier can be used to keep the baby entertained. Babies look very disturbed when they cry so one way to keep them busy is by giving them the nuk to suck on. However parents should keep in mind that if the baby seems to pay too much attention to the pacifier, measures should be taken to introduce other elements like teething toys to avoid over dependence.

Also a nuk pacifier is most effective when it is given to the baby after a few weeks of breast-feeding. By then the baby will be well aware of its mother’s nipple and so this will avoid any sort of confusion for the baby. Moms should be extra careful while choosing the pacifier because there are all kinds of pacifiers in the market and some don’t seem to offer much as far as the designing of the pacifier is concerned. You can opt for an odorless and tasteless nuk if you fear your baby will develop allergies but if you think your baby will be fine you can opt for a vanilla flavored one. Vanilla flavor is known to have a soothing effect on the senses so this will keep the baby relaxed for a long time.

Buying a baby pacifier may seem like a regular off hand purchase for new parents but the type of pacifier you choose, the brand you choose, the kind of design you choose etc have a long term bearing on the baby’s health. So you don’t want to take any chances with this. A nuk pacifier will give you everything you are looking for in a pacifier and a lot more for a price that will be easy on your pocket.

Online Kids Shopping

Author: Benard Worseley

It is that time of the year again when you have to look for baby gifts for your friends on different baby shops. Spring has come and it seems that newborn babies are everywhere trying to remind you that you need to some serious shopping for baby clothes and accessories at your favorite baby shop. My personal choice would be to look for baby stuffs on a baby store. If, however, you want to save time and money, then online shopping would be your best bet.

There are several online baby shops that offer some wonderful products for the nursery. Most online baby shops have large collections of baby clothes that you can mix and match. By shopping online for baby clothes, you can have access to exclusive line of baby products that cannot be seen in your local store. I discovered the benefit of online shopping when I was pregnant last year. I looked for a reliable online baby shop, created my account, and ordered clothes for my baby. I was surprised to find out that online shopping is as easy as one, two, three and that I am recommending it to all the people out there who want unique baby products delivered right at their doorstep.

Looking back on it, I was a bit paranoid that I would not receive what I had ordered. Thankfully, the online baby shop where I ordered clothes for my baby was so accommodating that they will either call you or email you to verify your orders and shipping details as well as assure you that your order had gone through. They were really helpful and I enjoyed looking at their unique and fabulous products I know I wouldn’t find at my local store.

Online shopping can really find you things you won’t normally find at any of your local stores. However, a word of caution to everyone, the online world is not as safe and secure as you might think or assume. If you are not careful and if you do not take the necessary measures to verify the credibility and reliability of the store, you might end up getting scammed. It is always best that you assure yourself of the store’s credibility and honesty by researching on its background, past transactions, and feedback.

For those of you who want to shop online for baby clothes and accessories, Sydney’s Baby Kingdom is a fantastic online baby shop that has commendable baby products and excellent customer service.

Sydney’s Baby Kingdom is one of Australia’s leading baby nursery retailers with four huge super stores in the Sydney region. Specialising in baby products including nursery furniture, manchester, prams, car seats, high chairs and many many more items, Sydney’s Baby Kingdom truly is your one stop shop for everything to prepare for the arrival of your new baby as well as everything you’ll need as they grow.

After many years and four super stores later, their experience and reputation have made us them one of the largest retailers of not only renowned Australian brands like Steelcraft, Boori and Safe n Sound, but also a retailer of world brands such as Peg Perego, Quinny, Silvercross, Chicco and many more

A Lesson on Baby Gift Registries

Author: Shirley Johnson

Do you find yourself spending hours searching for the perfect baby gift? You are not alone. We all want our baby shower gift to be the favored one and of course the one that stands out above all others.

Did you know that 9 times out of 10, the new mom is talking under her breath as she opens the same ole same ole time and time again, only to walk away with items she is bound to return for something she really wanted.

There is a reason why baby shower registries are made available for you, the buyer. Let me say it this way. The new mom picks what she wants and it is shown on her registry. She doesn’t want the other high chair because it’s cuter or better quality-She wants the one she picked out. No she didn’t want the pink and white onsies, she wanted the purple and white ones. Sound familiar?

I just expereienced this with someone very close to me and she was so angry that her own family chose what they wanted her to have instead of getting what she had picked out for the new precious little girl. Keep that in mind folks. The new mom will always have plenty to choose from on her registry from prices from low to high that you can choose from.

Buying for a new mom without a registry? No problem. There are so many unique and adoreable baby gifts out there that she will be delighted to receive. Try something out of the ordinary. Get away from the same ole’. Look around for unique products that aren’t on every website or mortar store you go in to. How about mom invented products? Mom invented products are always a huge hit with every new mom and can be used in a wonderful way because a mom said so.

If you are looking for something awesome, please browse our selection of unique baby products at

				ANSWER:
We have a Fisher Price stand alone and a Fisher Price booster. I really prefer the booster/space saver. Both are adjustable in height and can be placed at the kitchen table. The huge difference for me is the cleaning. The booster doesn’t have cushioning and is 100% easier to clean than the high chair which has a cushion. Even though the cushioning can be thrown in the washing machine as well as the straps it’s heaps easier to wipe down the booster and be done with the cleaning. I would buy another booster for my second son in a heartbeat. Only thing stopping me is my husband!

If it were me I’d buy the first one without cushioning and save myself some cleaning. It’s always a good thing!

Not all baby furniture is equal, and a poorly-designed product can result in injuries or deaths and prompt a recall. The recent drop side crib ban shows that once the design of baby furniture is cheapened, the product has a greater chance of injuring a child and creates an unsafe sleeping area. From chemicals in mattresses to baby toys to drop side cribs, the safety of a baby’s sleeping area is analyzed by parents. One wrong toy in a crib or a too-close baby monitor could cause an injury. If you are purchasing baby furniture, how should you go about looking for sturdy pieces?

Although some baby products can be purchased secondhand, furniture is not one of them. Secondhand cribs, highchairs, and bassinets pose a greater safety hazard. Even if you accept a hand-me-down from a family member, the piece of furniture has been through a few years of wear and tear. Additionally, secondhand products may have been recalled years ago.

Even when looking at new baby furniture, always consider the construction and use for the piece. For the former, the hardware is one of the most important aspects of a crib, bassinet, or any other piece. The plastic parts, which could break easier, were the cause of many drop side crib recalls. Metal parts, however, are sturdier and less likely to break.

Construction, however, goes beyond hardware, and when examining furniture, look for holes a child could fall through, seats he or she could climb out of, or any part he or she can push down, climb over, or put in his or her mouth. Cribs, for example, cause nearly 10,000 injuries per year, and drop side designs aside, many are the result of a child standing up against a side and falling down or slipping between the bars. A crib, in this case, could have high enough sides to reduce falls and bars close enough together to contain the child.

Parents, on the other hand, may be planning for more than one child, and the baby furniture you purchase will likely be used again. Rather than subject a second or third child to a less-safe crib, find a design that will easily last at least four years of use and that has strong hardware. If you plan to only have one child, however, get the most out of the furniture by purchasing a convertible design, which can be used as a toddler bed in a few years.

My Personal Review OnSummer Infant Sleek and Secure Handheld Color Video Monitor, Grey

Solid video monitor This is our video monitor in the first place, we have to use our second child after using a Graco Vibe monitor audio only our first child. Having a video monitor is very useful, it does an excellent job of keeping out of baby’s room. As a concerned parent, it is very easy to want to come in and make sure a baby is well, that too often ends up disturbing baby. However, I can take this monitor and see that my child is OK.

By not using video monitors, it is difficult to make a comparison, but I did a little research to compare other models with this, there are some things that makes this model an easy choice: – Small, pocket monitor – Support for up to four cameras, – Security Audio / Video Power

As another critic has pointed out, the mounting options are somewhat limited, you can mount on the wall with a screw w / anchor wall or sit on a shelf or other flat surface. I decided my two cameras mounted on the wall. Although it has decided not to use the cheapy wall anchor included and more pleasant to use a local hardware store. If you turn the volume all the way into the monitor, you can keep the monitor in one hand and place the camera out with your other hand. As suggested in the manual, I put a teddy bear where the baby sleeps in the crib. Help make it easier to determine the location of the camera. One thing I liked about the cameras and the monitor is that they come with very long cables. Too electronic shorty come with cables, not this.

One thing that was not very impressed with the high video quality, video is a little grainy, washed and has a slow almost feel it is not a high-speed frame, maybe 5 frames per second. That said, the most important feature for a baby video monitor, I think that night vision works pretty well. I can see that my baby is sleeping, moving or not moving. I mounted the camera of 3.4 feet of the baby and if I look closely, you can usually see if your eyes are open or closed, even with night vision.

We set up the other camera in the room with my eldest daughter, allowing us to visually check every child with the touch of a button, which is nothing less than impressive. It was also easy to add, press a few buttons, turn on the second camera and voila! You can even use the scan feature that switches between monitors every 8 seconds. We have white noise going on each child’s room, so when the camera swaps between the room, the audio swap. The only thing to keep in mind is that the exchange of audio can be distracting if you’re trying to sleep. For that reason, we still use the Graco monitor room audio and video monitor with audio on the other.

I’ve only had this monitor a couple of weeks, so I can not comment on battery life, but the battery seems to last all day from normal use, the load during the night.

I probably have given this 4.5 stars, if possible, but decided to go with 5 to offset some of the other reviews that seem too low due to abnormal break or something that is not necessarily directly related to product characteristics and quality.

			QUESTION:
High Chair– space saver or stand alone?
I’m a new mom and was wondering which type of feeding chair to get– a stand alone high chair or one of those “space saving” ones that strap onto a chair? Which have you used and which do you prefer? (My baby is 6 months old and we have a medium-sized apartment)
Examples:
STAND ALONE: http://www.amazon.com/Graco-3A00RIT-Contempo-Highchair-Rittenhouse/dp/B000MXQGT4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1282174551&sr=1-3

It’s always a good thing!

my son isnt exactly getting out of his high chair yet but he will be soon so im looking for a new but relativly cheap high chair with a cute design but it must be 5pt harness to keep my son sitting!

				ANSWER:
It’s 5 points…it rocks! I have almost all the graco contempo deco stuff and I love it. I also have the car seat, stroller, and pack and play. Loooveee it!

Phil & Ted's Baby Strollers, Infant Gear And More!

Author: Doug Cobb

Phil & Ted’s is a unique and impressive company located in New Zealand. Their company builds and also promotes word class newborn gear designed for, as they say “parents only desireing the best for their baby”.

You should consider the various baby products which Phil & Ted create.

Pushing – Here is Phil & Ted’s principal and most comprehensive product they manufacture. To convey that they provide simply strollers can be understated. Can a three or perhaps a 4 wheel little one transportation system sometimes be known as a thing of beauty? Phil & Ted have constructed a number of single strollers that can all get transformed in to dual strollers. They offer lightweight child strollers, durable, all terrain baby strollers and they present well adaptable as well as deluxe strollers.

Sleeping – Phil and Ted build, construct, as well as promote progressive vacation baby cribs, travel cots, rockers as well as baby bassinets. Their travel child bassinet, labeled as a Cocoon, could be mounted on Phil and Ted’s Vibe Stroller. Once more, they build infant products which underline their compact, practical impressive design.

Feeding – Phil & Teds have definitely discovered a way that will make feeding each of our little ones quite a bit better in addition to a great deal more exciting due to their collection of high chairs. They also offer a genuinely neat technology called the Wiggle Wrapper that allows you to easily attach the child on top of the lap or in a regular chair available for serving, and also a Wiggle Wrapper may be utilized in order to tighten your family children down into a normal mattress any time your’re vacationing and a infant crib is not necessarily convenient.

Carrying – If you are looking for child carriers that let you to tote your little one on your back or on your front side then Phil and Ted can help. They offer two lightweight backpack-like carriers, a belt-on front infant carrier, and a couple of very clever diaper holders that could be carried by hand or attached to the stroller.

Driving – the Phil and Ted baby products might never be complete without products intended for vehicle travela€¦. Their traveling products encompass a rear facing baby automobile seat. And they have the typical forward facing toddler seat. Last of all they market a convertible car seat that easily modifies from a vehicle chair in to a booster seat.

The individuals from Phil and Teds understand that baby solutions would need to meet all of the demands with today’s contemporary mum and dad with no limiting ease of use, safety as well as an appealing style. Phil & Teds quality strollers, for instance, look and feel outstanding, they tend to be rather useful and trouble-free for you to utilize and also they could end up being comfortably transformed from the individual stroller to a double two seater baby stroller. It is this sort of improved development which can differentiate Phil & Ted for some time to come.

			QUESTION:
Which high chair or hook on should we get?
We are looking at the kind that attach to the table and wondering if you all had any opinions.

The 3 we are looking at is the Phil & Teds metoo, the Chicco Hippo Hookon and the Inglesina Fast Table.

We have also looked at the Stokke Tripp Trapp, so any opinions on all of these is welcome! Thanks!

				ANSWER:
We are TTC baby #1, so I don’t own any of these, but have friends with just about all of them, or have babysat or nannied for people with them. My favorite is the metoo, it seemed to be the easiest to deal with and get on and off tables. According to friends, the Hippo is a pain to clean. I really like the fast table, but it seems sort of small. I would suggest getting one of the hook ons for travel and restaurants, etc. and if you have the space and money to get the Stokke. It is awesome and I have never met anyone with a complaint!

			QUESTION:
Baby Shower Drama? Advice?
So I am 32 weeks pregnant with my first baby, a boy (though my husband has two girls who are 3.5 and 5 from his first wife). When we first found out we were pregnant we lived far away, so I didn’t expect a baby shower. And quite frankly, I didn’t want one (still don’t…I’m not liking the idea of this baby-party for me). But now we have moved closer to my family, who is very excited for the baby, and friends who are also excited, and it seems to be expected that we are having a baby shower (even though we pretty much have all the baby stuff we need other than some of the small stuff like toiletries).

So my best friend decided she would throw me a baby shower, but she works two jobs and is a mother, and a student on top of that. Then my grandma and cousin decided they wanted to throw me a shower and have asked me about it a few times in the past week, but I don’t want to ask my friend if she is actually planning anything because A) I don’t want her to think I’m nagging because she has so much going on and B) sort of don’t want to remind her in case she’s forgotten about it.

And so then my cousin was asking about just inviting my friends to the shower that they throw (which I would rather do than have two separate baby showers anyway) but again, don’t want to step on my friends toes.

And like I said, we really have everything we need for the baby already. And my cousin was saying that she wants me to register at target or BRU for stuff that we do still need, but do I really need to register? I’ve always been uncomfortable asking for gifts. We are not well off, by anyones standards (my husband is a student and I work as a nanny) but through buying things second hand and all we have all we need (and more) and its nice stuff too (a beatiful four-poster crib and matching dresser and nightstand, a phil & teds stroller, tons of clothes (up to size 24 months…tons), bumgenius/happy heiny/blueberry diapers, papasan swing, eddie bauer high chair, a power wheels mustang (for when babies older of course…just what every newborn needs, right?), two britax marathons (one for each car) etc etc. Its not like its crappy stuff though is what I’m getting at- I genuinely like the things we have so don’t want or need more of those things bought. We also have crib bedding that my grandma and I are making, and lots of blankets, towels, etc. We are pretty set, but do need like wipes and baby soaps and stuff. So do I have to register for those things? I also thought maybe itd be ok to just ask everyone to bring a copy of their favorite childrens book to fill out his bookshelf, but I know how people are, they love buying “fun” stuff too. Is there a way to nicely mention that we don’t need anything? My grandma has seen the babies room, and she knows we don’t need much, but she still wants me to have a shower.

I just don’t know what to do. On one hand I know that its not about me, everyone else wants to celebrate the baby coming too, but on the other hand I’d rather just not do it. Plus, my other grandma just passed away unexpectedly yesterday, and even though we weren’t super close like I am with my other grandma, I feel like out of respect its not right to celebrate anything.

I don’t know, I’m weird I guess, I know most women dream about having their first baby and love baby showers and all, but I would just as soon have a “no longer pregnant” get together AFTER the baby comes and meet up for drinks or something…I do miss meeting up for drinks. But that would defeat the purpose of them being excited about the baby. Maybe I could ask everyone to bring like a “night of free babysitting” voucher, that would be a fabulous gift if I received like 20 of those, or a cleaning lady. Idk. But I do know the last thing we need is more piles of baby clothing.

My life is pretty much over now that this baby is coming huh?

Also, this is totally off topic but does anyone know where I can find a wooden letter “A” in the Portland area? I went to the craft warehouse last night to get letters to paint to hang on the babies wall above his crib that spell out his name, and the letters were 50% off (Yay!) and they had every letter except “A”. His name is Maverick- so an A is necessary.

			QUESTION:
Secret Desires…Guilty Pleasures for men ……..How True is this?
23 guilty pleasures men will never cop to”

1. Fantasizing about her friends, her cousin, her mom, and all of the other women whose hotness is multiplied exponentially by their unavailability.

2. Sitting in the boss’s chair when he’s gone.

3. Angry Phil Collins: “In the Air Tonight.” “I Don’t Care Anymore.” “Mama.” And when you’re alone, air drums.

4. Those cheerleading competitions on ESPN2. Go ahead and watch. They want you to. It’s . . . Oh! Kay!

5. Binoculars. Neighbors. You do the math.

6. Deep, emotional conversations with your closest buddy. The best part: Once you have one, neither of you will ever mention it again.

7. The “Confessions” page of Cosmopolitan magazine. Your girlfriend’s copy, of course.

8. Karaoke. You do it because it makes the girls giggle. But deep down, you know you’re better than Mick.

9. Every friggin’ word that comes out of Jessica Simpson’s pouty li’l mouth.

10. Cotton sheets with a thread count higher than Ted Williams’s career batting average. A little knowledge of fabric is nothing to be ashamed of at bedtime.

11. You probably call it something like “scuttlebutt” or “intel.” Why not call it what it is: gossip.

12. Warm Krispy Kremes. I mean, good God.

13. Pottery Barn. Restoration Hardware. Pier 1 Imports. You “tolerate” browsing there to mollify your lady–and to trade off a trip to the sports bar afterward–but for weeks you’ve been eyeing that Persian/Taiwanese rug and the monogrammed barbecue-utensil set. And wouldn’t that Amish-made bookcase just kill in your den?

14. Flexing your fingers on the steering wheel. Waiting. Revving. Then blowing the poor sap next to you off the line.

15. Slippers!

16. A cheeky chardonnay.

17. Picking scabs, popping zits, and giving that mosquito bite one good scratch before vowing never to touch it again.

18. Movies like Old School that make you think, If only . . .

19. Saturday-morning reruns. Saved by the Bell (TBS) leading into a couple of 90210s (FX) fills your Tiffani Thiessen quota and is good hangover therapy.

20. Even better hangover therapy: the Kevin Costner triptych of Waterworld, Wyatt Earp, and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

21. Googling yourself.

22. Kelly Ripa. It ain’t her talk-show chops. Maybe it’s how she and Faith Ford smeared chocolate over each other. Maybe it’s her domineering hotness. But it’s definitely something.

23. Your filthiest, most psychotic erotic fantasy–the one that’s either too dark, too dirty, or too illegal to mention. Don’t worry. Every guy has one.
ill always be slaves to..
I can knock offf about 20 of these… but number 10 is just weird!
