Many parents struggle with the issue of babies and bedtime. While some parents have kids who go to bed at a certain time and sleep all night, others do not. These parents may have children who fight going to sleep and then wake up throughout the night. There may be some easy ways for you to help your little one get to sleep and stay asleep through the night. Learning how to effectively establish a bedtime routine and a healthy sleep pattern can benefit everyone in your household.

When an infant and toddler is over a certain age, some professionals will say that not wanting to go to bed or stay asleep is a behavioral. In order to change behavior, you have to be willing to help change your child’s current routine that they have. If your child has gotten used to falling asleep in a certain way that is not independent, then you will need to help change it.

If you have fallen into the habit of helping your child to get to sleep, then you will need to break the habit. Some parents will rock their baby to sleep or get them to fall asleep in their arms, Staying in the room while they are drifting off and rubbing their back or singing to them, could be helpful but may not foster any independence. Some parents will even allow their babies to go to sleep with a juice bottle or milk in a cup.

The way that a child learns how to fall asleep, is the way that they will need to go back to sleep when they wake in the middle of the night. It is important to help children learn how to fall asleep on their own. There are some easy ways to create the ideal bedtime routine that anyone can follow.

Many children thrive on routines and schedules. That is why it could be crucial to set the same time each and every night for bedtime. You can pick a certain time to begin getting the child ready for bed, by giving them warnings. You could let your child know that in five minutes that they will be getting ready for bed. A warning may help them plan out what is going to happen next.

A routine will need to be the same each and every night. Some families will have a special snack and warm drink before bed. Putting on sleepwear and brushing teeth could be the next step. Reading books is a great way to help kids calm down. The stories could be done while the child is sitting in bed or in a chair. Some parents will read to their children or have them read to them.

Warm baths with lavender may also help to calm a child down. Baby massage benefits can be used to help a baby relax and get ready for sleep. You could give your baby a bath and a quick massage with lavender cream. Once their stories are done, they can be put to sleep. Even if a toddler fusses and cries, you may go in a check on them every few minutes, but letting them fall asleep on their own is crucial.

Your handbag; Babies like to have fun with the items found in a wallet, whether yours or a visitors. Various of these things might be very risky to your baby, like medications, nail sharpeners, pens, makeup and other tiny things.

Cleaning your home; You must make sure that the entire cleaning products are difficult to reach for the baby while they are in storage, but in addition keep this in mind while you are using them. It is very simple to be occupied cleaning and turn your back, simply enough time for them to get into something dangerous. Make use of the basin as a substitute of a mop bucket. Your baby may drown in a small amount of water, not to talk about the material in the water may be risky to him.

Furniture; Be sure no one of your furniture lamps, or decorations are tipped over without problems . Keep their high chair at a great distance from walls and other surfaces they might use for leverage to shove it, perhaps tipping it over. No furniture that has a flake or detaching paint should be permitted in the house with your baby.

Check out the rooms of your house often and remember to check them from your baby’s point of view , which means get down on the ground to look for possible risks.

Many Moms, especially those who nurse a baby , like to have their baby sleep in the bed with them. There are a number of baby safety tips to keep in mind while doing this as well.

1. Do not leave them onto a mature bed unaccompanied to be asleep. They may crawl to an edge and fall over. They may become trapped between the board at the head of a bed and the bed or the wall. They can in addition choke in soft blankets.

2. Babies ought to be put to sleep on their back, not on their stomach. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome can have somewhat to do with laying babies on their stomachs to sleep .

3. Do not use soft cushion, comforters, and thick quilts or blankets for babies under 1 year old. They stand a chance of suffocating themselves. Strongly fitting crib sheets are the safe way to go.

4. Make sure your baby cannot fall out of the bed. Bed railing is a useful thing to own or placing your bed with one side to the wall. The baby ought to sleep between the mother and the bed railing, not amid the two parents.

5. Too many soft cushion, blankets, or stuffed animals can enlarge your baby’s hazard of strangulation or suffocation.

6. Be sure your bed has a solid surface. By no means let your baby to sleep on a featherbed, beanbag, waterbed, deep mattress, or other too-soft surface.

7. If you are under the influence of alcohol or medications that makes you sleepy, do not put your baby to sleep in your bed. If you are tired, you create a danger to your baby.

8. Do not stuff too many infants or kids into a bed with your small baby. If you share your sleep with more than one kid, sufficient breathing space is needed for both convenience and security.

9. Never doze off on a couch, sofa, or overstuffed seat with your baby. They might get wedged amid the pillows and suffocate.

 QUESTION:
Trying to find a vintage baby stroller that turned into a table and chair set, as well as a high chair.?
As a child, I had this stroller which turned into a high chair, and table and chair set. It was like blue/green. It would have been made around 1975-1976. I’ve been trying to find it, and can’t. I’ve tried eBay but don’t know the manufacturer at all. The table top was Formica and it had metal legs. The chair had a vinal cushioned seat. I think the chair sat on the table and it had a tray that fit on the chair to make it a high chair.

Here is a photo of it: http://www.tshirtsnmorestore.com/meinhighchair.jpg

If anyone knows the manufacturer or the name of it, your help is appreciated!

 QUESTION:
How should I decorate my bedroom?
I’m a sophomore in high school and I feel that my bedroom is too childish.

My room is small, the walls are baby blue with a white trim. I have a twin bed with a lavender comforter and zebra sheets, pink and white pillows, a big papasan chair with a white cushion. I have wooden floors, a dark wooden bookcase and a medium colored dresser and desk.

My room seems too cluttered, crowded, and young. I don’t know what to do with the walls. I like art, movies, fashion, animal prints, and my friends lol. I like bold, bright colors. I’m into a kind of European look right now. I love the color turquoise. I have a somewhat tight budget. What should I do? HELP.

 ANSWER:
Turquoise and lavender can go well together. Do you have any window treatments?
I’d also consider putting the zebra sheets on the window.
Move the twin bed to a wall opposite the door if you haven’t already.
Move the desk so it faces the door with the bookcase behind you when you sit in it. (if possible)
The lavender comforter is great.
Loose the pink & white pillows by covering them with a darker lavender & turquoise (if you can find it) material. It’s easy to make pillow covers. They even sell glue to do it if you don’t sew (in fabric stores).
Keep the chair but if the pillow covers work then consider recovering the chair cushion as well.
Also know that green can be color choice for you. When you browse the fabric store you’ll get some ideas. Get a small swatch of the fabric (or a yard) which you can afford and try it out at home.
You already know this but paint those walls. It’s the biggest change you can make for the smallest amount of money. ALWAYS.
Hope something this helps.
I wish you well.

 QUESTION:
How is my story, its a little long.?
Ok I know it isn’t perfect; I wrote it in early fifth grade but here it is:

The dark clouds bellowed as I walked home. The wind was picking up, so I zipped up my coat even higher. It was early fall; reddening trees hanging over my head. I was walking down the sidewalk up to my house at the end of the street. I walked into the door of my house. I yelled upstairs to my mom, “Mom, I’m going outside!” She yelled back to me, “Be back by 6:00! Bye, honey!” “Bye, Mom!” I stepped into the closet for a second to grab my poncho, scarf, and gloves. Pulling my poncho over my coat and slipping my scarf and gloves on, I stepped out the door. Staring at the blackening sky, I picked up my speed. As I walked, no cars passed by. When I had made it there, my eyes glanced all around the forest to make sure no one was there. Searching for my hidden path, I stepped over the fallen branches and wet leaves. ‘There it is!’, I thought, looking up through the trees to hidden home. You see, my father had built this tree house for me before he disappeared. I climbed up the old rope ladder into my wondrous hide-out.
I took the broom out from behind the door and started sweeping out the leaves through the door way, so they gently floated to the forest floor. Then I closed the door. I closed the windows facing large oak trees to keep out the harsh, cold, wind. Looking around my little dwelling, I couldn’t help but think that this place could really bless my existence. I barely appeared against the landscape of 7th grade, which I called the 7th World. Being a loner, the only friend I had was myself and the house, of course. After straightening up the furniture, I sat down in my little, cushioned, purple chair and I gazed around. My dad just knew everything that would make the perfect dwelling. He had built: a simple sofa chair, a little table next to it, two shelves filled with novels of his past, and the picture of me as a baby, him, and my real mother. Yes, it’s a sudden surprise; I’m adopted. You see, my real mother was a lady named Libby. My dad’s name was Justice. She died in a fatal explosion at a hospital when I was 6. My father mysteriously disappeared during thunder storm. I looked at my watch; 5:57 pm. ‘Lost in my memories again,’ I thought. Opening up the door, I took one more glance at the place, and then started for the ladder. Stepping onto the first step, and then the second, I took my hands off the ladder. Planning to take one more step, I lost my balance and tumbled into space.
Everything was turning from blue to red. Black shapes were appearing more and more through the red smoke. The blue was almost fading into the horrific “sky”, and I felt a hand grab my hand. I looked up; a small face with twinkling blue eyes stared down at me and then past me to the little black creatures growing bigger and bigger as they came closer and closer. She said, “Hold tight, we’re in for a bumpy ride!” She looked up to the shrinking blue and flew towards it; me dangling from one of her arms. I couldn’t believe it! She had the wings of an angel! She picked up speed as we flew higher and higher and the black creatures were growing smaller and smaller. All of a sudden we passed all the red smoke. We were surrounded by blue. The angel said, “Hi, I’m Haruko, you must be Bina!” “Yes, I am, hi!”, I said back. She smiled, “Tell me about you.” About to let go of me, I screamed, “No, I can’t fly like you! ” “Oh right, silly me! Here eat this!”, she said. She tossed me a fluffy cookie the size of my palm. I ate it, and then felt very weird. “Why am i feeling tinglyness in my back?!”, I asked anxiously. “You’ll see!”, she said. All of a sudden, there was some weight on my back. I turned my neck around and saw shiny, white wings! “Oh my gosh! Wings! I have wings!”, I yelled with happiness. Haruko shook her head with a grin. It was so easy to move them! And when she let go of me, they started flapping ever so subtly, keeping me floating with ease. “Now let me tell you all you need to know.”, she said.
We started flying towards a tiny white shape in the distance. Haruko pointed to it and said, “That’s where we’re going. It’s called the White Kingdom. But I really don’t know why. That’s where King Justice and Queen Libby live! They’ve been expecting you.” “Haruko, what was that place back there?”, I asked, quickly looking behind me. “Oh…”-she shuddered,-”I would of known you’d ask that. That place was called the Black Kingdom. It’s ruled by Princess Abha, Princess Kimberly, and Princess Isahanna. That was the portal to the Red Lands from Earth. If I hadn’t of saved you, their minions would of captured you and the sisters would of killed you…”, she said. I looked at her, “Why would they want to kill me?” “Bina, this might be a little sudden, but… Your mother back on Earth, was their mother. She told them all about you, before they murdered her.”, she said. I was the one who shuddered this time. “Y-you mean…?”, I stuttered.
“Yes. They want to kill you. I’m so sorry. But here in the White Kingdom, you will be heavily guarded. My husband, Druce, is in on your safety also”, she smiled wistfully.
We continued our journey until I could see the cloud up close. It was a castle! “Here we are, the White Castle!, Haruko said.
Inside the gates was a village. Tons of angels were buzzing around; some carrying fruit and other objects, and children hopping jumping around through lots of floating feet.
QUESTION:
My Experience with ECV. This is not a question!?
Hi guys, I just thought I should share my experience with having a External Cephalic Version (ECV) done in hospital to turn my breech baby. After reading most of the horror stories of people’s experiences, I nearly opted out of doing it but I just thought positive and went ahead in getting it done or else the only other option would be to have a C-Section which I DO NOT want as it involves major surgery and I would do all I can to prevent having a C-Section delivery..

At 38 weeks, there is lesser chance the baby will turn on its own, so my midwife booked me an appointment at the labour ward in hospital. We went in the morning was offered a room. They did a scan, monitored the baby’s heartbeat, gave me an injection to relax my uterus. After 30 mins of being given the injection 2 doctors came in to do the procedure. I was scared and was advised that it will be painful, the procedure might cause my waters to break (which will cause me to go into labour), or the placenta might detach from the uterus causing bleeding (which means I will need to be taken into theatre for an emergency C-Section).

All these scared me but I was told by the doctor that there is only a 0.01% chance of this happening and in his whole carrier he’s never seen it happen. I then verbally agreed for them to go ahead and try to turn the baby (From bottom first to Head first). The Doctor did a scan to know the exact postion of the baby and after that that other doctor put her hand on my belly (One hand on the baby’s bottom and the other on his head) and manoeuvred the baby into the correct position. It only took one try and to my surprise the actual procedure lasted under 1 minute! It wasn’t as painful as I’d expected infact I won’t call it painful but its just an uncomfortable feeling.

The Doctor then confirmed with me that the baby is now head down and in the correct position for birth, however he advised me that the baby might still turn but I hope not!. They then kept me in for a further 45 mins just to monitor the baby to ensure he’s not in any form of distress. After the 45 mins of monitoring I was then told that the baby is perfectly fine and I’m free to go home. Yeah!

I was so relieved and happy and the best part of it all, it is not as bad as I had pictured. I have no regrets whatsoever and its 5 days since the ECV and baby is still head down. Compared to not have at least have a go at the ECV and just gave up and opted for a C-Section wouldv’e have been a bad idea.

So anyway ladies for those of you whose babies are breech and are thinking on whether or not to have an ECV done, well my advice is that you at least give it a try if you want a natural birth. One thing you can do to help towards having a successful ECV is drink plenty of water before the procedure so you are well hydrated. Upon a successful ECV, try walking around for at least 15 mins to encourage baby to stay head down. While standing up, lean forward (Say on a chair) for at least 5 mins 6 or more times a day. Always sit with back straight. Never slouch or put your feet up. When you sit on a car, use a cushion to raise your bum so that your knees are not higher than your bum. Avoid sitting on the bed for too long or even better don’t! When sitting down try to get up and walk around every 15mins or so.

Well I guess that’s about it. I hope you’ve found this information helpful. This is all based on my own personal experience. I’m not saying it will be the same for you too but ECV is worth a try and don’t believe all these horror stories posted on the net about it. I’m very glad I was offered this option, went for it and it was successful. Good luck to all expecting mothers out there. Feel free to comment or share your own experiences with ECV too!

 QUESTION:
how is this prologue? would you read this book?
Prologue
‘Honestly Marie, you worry too much, your going to go pertinently grey’ joked Elizabeth, though she was looking pale from worry herself and stealing multiple glances at the door. Being the closest to their mother out of her four other sisters, Marie wanted nothing more than to be there in the room next door, holding her mother’s hand at her bedside as she grimaced in labor. But her father had forbidden it.
All the Frost sisters were sitting around one short comfy chair in the living room. Mary Frost, the youngest at four was curled up on Marie’s lap, barely awake at the late hour of the evening. Elizabeth, fourteen, was moving her hand back and forth over Marie’s shoulder to comfort her, while she perched on the arm of Marie’s chair. Leaning against the chair sat Louise, nine, with her arms around her knees, not really with us, as she so often was, but in her own little world, the land of the fairies her mother always said. Playing with Louise’s long golden hair sat Florence, twelve, with her mouth shut, this was very unusual for dear Florence but as most of the sisters that evening, she felt it best to remain silent. Marie, absentmindedly, began to play with a stray strand of her own light, dark blonde hair that was piled up in the resent fashion of top of her head.
A sudden roar of anger from the labor room made them all jump. The sound could only be their father and it seemed he did not have the son he so longed for. It either meant a third still birth (The past two had both been boys) or a sixth sister to the Frost family. An unmistakable baby’s cry came from the room next door, announcing the latter option. Marie stood to accept the news, straightening out her huge skirts that were really more of a nuisance than they were worth (but her father always chose what she would wear without her having a say, so she wore them without complaining), her sisters followed her lead.
But instead of a servant, Scott Frost, their father burst into the room, carrying above his head was a wailing baby. ‘Your wretched mother’ he yelled, taking one hand off the baby to point an accusing finger at his daughters bewildered faces, ‘Has given me another bloody daughter!’ He continued to yell even though the servants still stood gaping. ’Congratulations’ He sneered as if it was their fault ‘You have another brat in the family’ But instead looking into the black fire burning in her father’s eyes, Marie had her arms outstretched ,automatically, towards the wailing child so precariously high in the air.
‘We will never speak of this child again’ He hissed. He pulled down the baby so he could get a better look at he and wrapped his hands around the baby’s tiny thought ‘This child of the devil will soon be silenced as a punishment to your mother who will never embarrass me again with such filth ’ His hands tightened and the baby’s cries were cut off to a terrible gurgle as it flapped around in bewilderment and pain.
‘NO!’ Marie gasped and flung herself forwards in a burst of movement to wrench his hands off the child and pulled the still wriggling baby to her chest. Scott stared down at his eldest child in shock and rage. ‘No.’ she whispered. Scott shoved her on to the ground with his arm, easily. For once she was thankful for her extensive skirts as they cushioned her and the child’s fall. Scott now stood, towering above the pair of them ‘You have disobeyed me.’ he whispered, pronouncing every syllable. His calm mask made him all the more menacing by the power and determination in his eyes ‘and if you ever disobey me again, then I swear girl I will kill you!’ and it was clear he meant ever word. Elizabeth gasped.
‘I am the authority in this house and I will not stand for disobedience.’ He continued, ignoring everyone but Marie ‘You are under my power and you have become too much of a nuisance for me to deal with. You must learn to let the men do the thinking for you and hold your tough in a man’s authority. You will pay for all six of your mother’s mistakes.’ as he said this he looked at each of his wife’s “mistakes” in turn ‘if you set a foot out of line I will hunt you down and rid myself of you.’ The he looked back down at Marie ‘Tomorrow morning I will leave to find you a suitable husband. And you, will. Be. Thank full.’ and with that he left the room.

i was thinking maybe i could change it so she was pregnant with either his baby (the father’s) or another man she was not married to…she is going to run away btw and join the Theatre…i have a whole story planned out but i need to know what people think of this, first.
All suggestions are welcome
thank you for taking your precious time to read this,
Milly .N. Cure
thanks again, sorry i know my puntuation and things are awfull and my spelling and just everthing, sorry
thank you, okay so can ppl just tell me what they think of it as a 1st chapter/and/or/a prologue then, thanks again

 ANSWER:
First off, I think you mean either “permanently” or “prematurely” not pertinently.

Secondly, prologues generally set the stage for the action. They often go outside the main story and its characters to explore the events that will impact the characters. They rarely feature any dialogue and they do not describe the characters. What you have is a first chapter, not a prologue.

How to Renovate an Old Wooden Chair?

Author: DeepaRoy

We all have wooden furniture in our homes. If nothing, everyone must be possessing one from among many types of wood chairs. If one of your wooden chairs is in such a condition that it can’t be used further, you can revamp it to get a new chair. Chair renovation will not only save you money but also do a favor to the environment. You’ll get a new cheap chair which is a fine piece of eco-friendly furniture too! Here is the step-by-step instruction for renovating your old wooden chair into a brand new upholstered chair.

Get the required material for your DIY project of chair renovation. You will need wood glue and clamps; a staplegun; some filling material (batting) like cotton, wool, synthetic fibers etc. or a foam cushion; upholstery fabric-5 inch larger than the foam cushion; fine-grit sandpaper; some paint or stain; and of course, the old wooden chair.

Remove any screw that is still there on the chair. Also pull out the parts that are no longer strong enough to support the chair.

Make the chair as strong as you can by reassembling the parts (that you had earlier pulled apart) with glue and clamps and then putting the screws back from where you disassembled them.

If you plan to stain the wood, take out all the paint with the help of sandpaper. However, if you wish to paint your old furniture chair, you don’t need to sand it down to the wood.

Wipe the chair with a damp cloth and let it dry.

If staining, apply the wood stain with a piece of cloth evenly over the whole chair. Apply stain everywhere, even in the cracks. Apply two coats of stain to get a perfect even surface.

If painting, apply the paint on the chair with even strokes of a small brush. Here also, you may need two coats of paint to get an even surface.

Take the wood base of the cushion and set it on some thick batting. Now trace around the wooden seat form and lift the batting, upside down, onto the fabric. Put the wood on top to make a batting sandwich and then pull the fabric towards yourself. Staple on the underside of the seat platform. Staple it tightly across the top surface. Trim the extra fabric from the bottom and turn it over.

If you want, you can even make another thinner cushion for the chair back (to be tied on at the top and bottom of the back). Alternatively, take the fabric(whatever is left) and make a simple pillow case. Slip it over the back and secure with a sash tied from front to back with a large bow behind it!

Your all renovated eco-friendly new upholstered wooden chair is all ready to be used!

If you really want to get rid of it, I would suggest trying to sell it to either an antique dealer, or craigslist before you decided to throw it away. It could possibly be worth something. I would do some research on it before you did anything with it.

Home Safety For the Elderly – 4 Simple Things That You Can Do to Make a Big Difference

Author: Chris West

In today’s world, home safety for the elderly is very important. Maybe you’ve had parents or grandparents visit, and you’re not sure whether your house is fully equipped to handle them. By reading this article, you can decide whether your home is safe enough for your loved ones.

Tip #1: No More Slip & Slide

Firstly, a fall can be very dangerous for an elderly person. Thus, making sure that your house is as slip free as possible is your first step. If you have rugs in your house, use non-skid mats under them. Make sure that common areas, for example kitchens and bathrooms are dry at all times – you may need to instruct your children if you have them to mop up when they’re done showering.

Tip #2: It’s Better to See You

Your next step is making sure that the house is well lit. Make sure that there aren’t any areas of the house that are dark, and try to have switches available at the entrance of rooms. If needed, you can even buy a lamp to do this. If you have stairs, definitely make sure they are well lit and the lights are on in the evening whenever the elderly in your home need to use them. With stairs, make sure at least one side (preferably both) have a railing as this makes them a lot easier to climb.

Tip #3: Every Man’s Castle Must Have a Throne

In the bathroom, keep everything that is needed in an easily available location. It may be better to let the elderly stay in a room with an attached toilet, should you have one available. Try and cushion the bath tub to prevent the impact of any fall. If possible, install handholds in the bath tub.

Tip #4: Keep Your Toys to Yourself

If you have children, you will have to be more careful than usual when the elderly come to visit. Strewn around toys can be tripped on, so make sure your children are neat. If you have pets, be careful – large dogs may be intimidating, especially if they get excited. Although your children may be unhappy with the extra rules, explain to them why this is needed and they will understand.

Home safety for the elderly is very important, as just a simple fall can cause problems. The elderly tend to be more fragile than those in their younger years, so if you take care of them right all of you can enjoy a happy, yet safe stay. By following the tips above, you should be able to make your house one of the safest places around – not just for them, but for you too!

 QUESTION:
What would you recommend for bathing a 6 month old?
He no longer fit on his tub, I got one of those safety first chairs,(this one: http://shop.parents.com/product/bath-safety/5553/safety-first-tubside-bath-seat.html) but what I hate is that you have to fill the whole bath tub and it wastes too much water, also it is kinda uncomfortable, hard, cold and the baby can only sit up.

What else is there and what are other alternatives?

it’s pretty big, it’s recommended until age 2, and it’s soft. we did have my son in the regular tub from birth (on a big bath sponge) but he began hating it around 6 months. try the regular tub and then if that doesn’t work or if you don’t feel comfortable, try a blow up tub.

 QUESTION:
What would be your first 2 priorities to make this classroom safer?
Okay so in a classroom you notice a large old metal fire extinguisher on the wall and a faded map to the exits that doesn’t relate well to the present lay out of the room. That is the extent of the fire/safety precautions in the main classroom. You noticed earlier that there are 2 children in wheel chairs attending the school. There are two rows of child size tables and chairs between the children and the nearest exit out of the building. What would be your first 2 priorities to make this classroom safer. And can you please explain your reasoning behind your choices. Thanks:)

 ANSWER:
Since people often don’t pay attention to the exit maps, I would start by making sure there is an inspected, charged and functioning fire extinguisher. I would also make sure that all exit routes are clear and accessible. The room would be much safer at that point, however it would still not be in compliance with fire safety regs so the next step would be to replace the outdated exit maps to show clearly the exit routes from the building. They don’t necessarily have to show the lay out of the room, but they do have to show exit routes. (The children should also be taught fire safety lessons on a regular basis, and fire drills should be practiced at various times of the day using a variety of exit patterns on a monthly basis.)

 QUESTION:
Should women be treated differently than men in society.?
In every day society, opening doors, pulling out chairs, women get to safety first, is this a good thing or bad.

 ANSWER:
Hmmmm–good question. I for one am not someone that likes to have a car door opened for me or a chair pulled out. I feel very awkward. After all I have two arms and legs and can do it myself. Perhaps it is because I have lived alone on and off, or perhaps because my mother was very stoic and I inherited some of that.
Face it, when you have a sweetheart, there is the niceness of doing things for his lady, however, after awhile, especially when married it stops, and when that happens the bickering begins.
I have pretty much the same parts as a man, save for a few, so I do not feel that a man has to dote on the so called weaker sex. Weaker my foot, you shoot a baby out of an orifice and see how weak we are!

I I have held doors open for men at stores as I have held doors open for women, so no I do not want to be treated differently, I want the respect that all people should show to each other, men or women.

 QUESTION:
Where can I find a good sale on outdoor patio (chair and bench) cushions?
I got a really nice outdoor patio set (3 wooden high-back chairs and 1 high-back bench) from my aunt who was getting rid of them. QUESTION:
tips for surviving puppy hood?
I have a 4 month old lab/spaniel mix puppy that we have had for about 1 month.

since we have had her she pretty much has done nothing but destroy everything! tonight, she even chewed a hole in the wall!!!! It is so frustrating! We try to give her as much attention as possible, she has plenty of toys to play with, and has plenty of outside time to get out extra energy. I cannot spend 24hrs a day watching her since i also have a 2 year old that takes priority over anything.

We are planning on getting her into puppy obedience classes, but dont have the money for it right now.

She has chewed on my sons high chair, chewed on our table and chairs in the kitchen, chewed a hole in the couch, chewed my favorite pair of flip flops, chewed my husbands shoes, chewed a chair pad and had the stuffing from it all over the back yard from our patio set outside, tried to chew the brick on the fire place, chewed a hole in the pad cover to an expensive glider rocking chair. basically you name it, shes chewed it or completely destroyed it. we havent had her that long, but her destruction is unbelievable. I just dont know how much more we can take. it has come to the point where she is in her crate 90% of the day. i feel bad, but im at a loss.

if someone has any suggestions, that would be very helpful. if your going to tell me im a bad dog owner, save your breath, i really dont want to hear it!

 ANSWER:
Well, the first thing that comes to my mind is: DON”T GIVE UP! Having a puppy for the first time ever can be very difficult – I can guarantee that everybody who went through this agrees – there will be a point when everybody is pulling their hair out and asking themselves why did they ever want a puppy.

But keep in mind that it will pass and after he grows up a little, your pup will make you forget all the bad moments or the fact that he just chewed up your brand new 200$ shoes.

Another important thing is do your research. You can never know too little stuff about dogs – especially for a new owner is vital to research the breed and how puppies need to be brought up.

Puppies need all your attention and for a couple of weeks it is indeed horrible. I’ve through all this now and I remember how for an entire week I was crying over the telephone to all of my friends.

You don’t need to pay for obedience classes, it’s going to take more time that doing it yourself in any case. You have to set some boundaries for her.

http://www.thewellhealedhound.com/training_and_behavior/dog_training_boundaries.html

I can talk a lot about this, but I think that you really need to do research. Trust the mighty internet, you will find good advice there on how to stop destruction.
Give up keeping her all day in a crate because you will get her very bored and bored pups are VERY destructive. I think that what she needs is being exercised – she is just a pup, 30 minutes of walking will exhaust her.
I have nothing against crates, they are a brilliant training tool, but if she is not exercised enough and also bored, the first thing she will do when out of the crate will be to cause destruction.
You don’t want to be dealing with a destructive adult, trust me!

Please read this. It will help.

http://www.hsus.org/pets/pet_care/our_pets_for_life_program/dog_behavior_tip_sheets/destructive_chewing/

http://www.petplace.com/dogs/how-to-deal-with-a-chewing-destructive-dog/page1.aspx

Also, you stated that you can’t supervise her 24h a day, but when she is out of the crate you do need to supervise her. If you are not there to correct her, how will she ever find out what it’s okay to do and what’s not?

This is what I did with my dog. I found a toy he was very fond of. I started praising him like crazy when he chewed on that toy. But when for example he tried to chew an electrical cable, I did tell him NO and yelled at him. Usually I don’t recommend yelling and I don’t to that, but I did panic a bit when I saw the cable in his mouth.
Obviously this didn’t work from the first time, but I was consistent and every time I saw him attacking the cable I told him a firm no and handed him his toy.

That’s the strategy I would use, besides tiring the puppy.

Good luck and remember, don’t give up!

 QUESTION:
How Much is My Home Worth?
Okay, I was just wondering this for fun because I just got out of the hospital and the only real chanel was HGTV so now I’m curious. Ok so it has 3 beds and 4 baths (3 full baths) oh and all of the bedrooms are really big my bedroom is bigger then most master bedrooms and the master bedrooms is really big but doesn’t have wasted space. The kitchen is good sized and has all stainless steal appliences and the dining room is really nice, it has huge bay windows and is pretty big as well, blenty big for our tabel which holds 6-8 ppl and our cabinet. The upstairs living/family room is the biggest room in the house (which is big) and has really tall vaulted sealings and a huge stone woodburning fireplace. The downstairs family/living room is pretty big and has a door that goes out to the back patio/backyard and it has another big stone woodburning fireplace. Also downstairs is the nook which we use as a library/study room and it is really nice and can be used as pretty much anything except for like a kitchen or bedroom of course. Also downstairs are 2 of the bedrooms and 2 of the bathrooms. Oh also upstairs is the office which comes off of the family room and there is a door that leads to is from the master suite. The office is very good sized and looks out into the backyard. The front yard is pretty big and has a huge tree that shades half of the yard and it really nice to lay under. Also the house is an elevated ranch home but the garage is on the top floor which is really nice cuz you don’t have to walk up stairs to get inot the house from it. There is also a nice little walkway that leads from the driveway to the frontdoor and it had beautiful flowers on either side of it. The house is wood and stone and the roof is cedar. Also on the side of the house there is a rock driveway which is perfect for like trucks or campers or boats. The backyard is the biggest in the neigborhood, it’s 3/4 of an acre. The backyard had a nice big grassy area then in the back it has at least 20 trees which include pine and apple trees and cherry trees then just tree trees, and there’s a little pathway that winds through them up to the second level of the backyard (or you could take the stairs.) Also on the first level of the back yard there is a flower bed, an herb garden and a big flower garden on the side of the yard. On the second level of the backyard there is a 3/4 sized basketball court and a dog run. We live in Colorado just outside of the suburbs so we are like 30 min. from dever but still have a town feel. Our house is 2 blocks from the elementary school about 3/4 of a mile from the high school, 3 blocks from the local park, pool, and tennis courts, then 3 blocks the other way from the private pool and tennis courts. We live on a very quiet street and pretty much everyone gets along but it’s not like everyones in eachothers buissness. Also since we are close to the main park our streets always get taken care of first when they need to so that’s nice. Oh and also we are maybe 3 minutes away by bike from the downtown which has restraunts, stores, the library, and the 4th of July parade oh and the most common attraction, this huge hill which is drop dead gorgeous which people love to hike up. The town however is not like really noisy it’s not really small town but it’s most definatley not big city. Where my house is located is in a neigborhood but not a subdivison so we have a lot of houses and stuff but the are doesn’t have a name. Also every house is unique so it’s not like one of those areas where every other house looks the same and the houses have a good distance (but not a huge distance) between eachother. Oh and before I forget, the backyard also has an big hottub (Not Inground) with a gazebo over it and an eating area with stools. And, right when you walk out that backdoor downstairs there is a patio where we have a table with a firepit and chairs and a swing. The town we live in is the county seat and the county we live in has the highest annual income in the country and the county was rated 7th in the country for homes selling. Also in my town our neigborhood is the only one that doesn’t have “track” homes within an 8 miles of our downtown so it’s really hard to find houses like ours. Finally our house is 3000 square feet with no wasted space and it is the biggest home in our area (most are 1600-2000 sq. ft.)

Thnx
(=

One more thing, the house has beautiful views of pikes peak and a lot of other mountains

Marvel Inflatable Talking Chairs

Author: Jon Porter

I was at my brother’s house in Houston last weekend, and his kids have the coolest chairs in their gameroom. As soon as I walked in the house, they began telling me about them.

We went straight to the gameroom so I could see them right away. What were they so excited about? They were the Marvel Inflatable Talking Chairs. There were two different types: the Super Hero Squad and the Iron Man 2. Each of his 3 boys had their own chair (two chose Iron Man, one chose Super Heroes). I don’t know if they make other ones or not, but these two are both really cool.

The pictures of the super heroes and Iron Man are high quality, as are the chairs. They were made out vinyl and looked like they would last a long while. The coolest thing about them is they talk! On the Super Hero Squad chair, each of the six heroes has their own phrase, like “Here’s your friendly neighborhood Spider Man.” The Iron Man chair has several different sayings like “I’m invincible!”, “I am Iron Man”, and “Armor Activate!” You can hear the different phrases by going to the website and hovering your cursor over the chairs or over the super heroes.

My nephews love these chairs! They sit in them when they’re watching TV or playing video games. I sat in one and it felt comfortable, but I did not stay seated as they hold up to 180 pounds, and I’m a little over that. I didn’t want to take any chances.

These chairs were about 3 feet high, and a little less than that for width and depth. So, they take up a little bit of room, but they’re perfect for a gameroom. They were easy to set up. They came with their own foot pump that worked really well.

And, they also came with an extra bonus. Each chair came with it’s own set of collectible trading cards. The Super Hero Squad chair came with Super Hero Squad trading cards and the Iron Man chairs came with Iron Man trading cards And, the boys loved those, too. All in all, the chairs seemed like a good deal.

My son is too young to use a chair like these, so I won’t be getting one for him just yet. But, my wife’s sister has two boys. They are both into Iron Man. We’re going to get the chairs for them as a gift when we head over to see them in a couple of weeks. I know they will like them. If you want to see pictures of the chairs, or order your own, check out the website here.

 QUESTION:
How can I sell off my office furniture for the best price?
I’m closing my mortgage office in Oceanside, NY. All my furniture is only 6 months old and of very high quality. I want to recoup as much as I can get. What % of the retail price should I be asking for and how can I get it sold quickly?

I tried a blast fax to other mortgage companies asking for 60% of the retail, but no one has replied. If I don’t get at least 50%, I’ll just give it to charity and take a write off.

 QUESTION:
Which is the best “wholesale” place… for an office chair and “red winter flour”?
I live in a very rural area and need two very different things.

I need an office (computer chair) as my old super-high quality one just died and is not worth repairing and also I’d like to find a place that has “red winter flour” in 25lb bags.

The office chair I will sit in.

The hard red flour is high protein (high gluten) flour which I like to use because it makes chewy bread and pizza.

There’s Sam’s Club, and Best Buy, and BJ’s. None are near me, all are about an hour away in Concord or Manchester, NH.

Which would you recommend?
